# Glossary

**Glossary**

A quick reference for key terms used in Name.art.

**Coins**
\
The internal currency of Name.art. You receive 1,000 coins when you join. Coins are used to mint referral tokens and are returned (in full or in part) when tokens are resolved.

**Commission**
\
The cash reward you earn when a domain you've backed is registered while your token is active. Commissions are 10% of the domain's tier price.

**Domain Tier**
\
The price category of a premium .ART domain. Name.art supports tiers 5 through 10, ranging from $410 to $100,000.

**Insider**
\
A Name.art member. The platform is invite-only, so all members are referred to as Insiders.

**Mint**
\
The action of backing a domain with a referral token by spending coins. Once you mint a token, you hold exclusive rights to earn the commission for that domain while the token is active.

**Portfolio**
\
Your personal dashboard in Name.art showing all the domains you currently hold tokens for, their status, expiry dates, and share options.

**Premium .ART Domain**
\
An unregistered .ART domain name available at one of the six supported price tiers. Premium domains are curated by the .ART registry.

**Referral Token**
\
A time-limited claim on a domain that gives you the exclusive right to earn a commission if that domain is registered while the token is active. Each token lasts 6 months.

**Token Expiry**
\
When a referral token reaches the end of its 6-month active period without the domain being registered. On expiry, 90% of the coins spent are returned.
